Raise a Toast to Spring During Passport Weekend
Hope you’ll plan to join us during the Wineries of Santa Clara Valley Spring Passport Weekend (March 17-19). Like a fine wine, this popular event gets better and better each year!
Here’s how it works: First, you need to get a passport. This is easier than ever before. You can simply buy online at www.santaclarawines.com and then specify the winery where you’d like to pick up your passport booklet and souvenir wine glass. Online passports cost $40. If you prefer, you can buy your passports in advance for $45 at any participating winery.
You can also purchase passports at the Gilroy Welcome Center, which is offering a special Passport Weekend promotion: if you buy 6 passports, you get a free Gilroy wine tote (while supplies last)! Be sure to also pick up a Wineries Map while you’re there so you can plan your tasting tour. The Welcome Center is located in Building A at Gilroy Premium Outlets, close to Forever 21.
We strongly recommend purchasing your passports in advance. Passports may be available on the day of the event, but supplies are limited. You don’t want to miss out on your chance to taste your way through California’s original wine country!
As a passport holder, you get to visit any of the participating wineries along the Santa Clara Valley Wine Trail (which winds from Saratoga in the north, through Morgan Hill and Gilroy, and all the way down to Gilroy). You can expect up to four one-ounce pours at each winery you visit on Saturday or Sunday (March 18 and 19) from 12-5 pm.
A few selected wineries will also be pouring at a special event on Friday evening (March 17) at the Morgan Hill Community and Cultural Center from 6-8 pm. Your Passport entitles you to attend all three days of fun!
During your journey, you’ll bring your souvenir glass to each winery to receive your wine tasting. Each winery will use a unique stamp on its designated page in your Passport, giving you a fun souvenir of your tasting adventure. Use your passport booklet to make notes on the wines and wineries you most enjoyed, and come back to visit another time!
Along the way, you’ll get to meet the talented winemakers and staff at over 25 family-owned wineries and learn how they produce some of the world’s finest wines. Many participating wineries have food and live entertainment, pour special select or library wines, provide barrel samples, and offer special Passport Weekend discounts on wine purchases. Some wineries also offer non-alcoholic drinks and other treats for designated drivers.
Several local restaurants and other businesses also offer special discounts to Passport holders. Be sure to check your Passport for all of those deals!
