The GWC Staff Finds Our Flavor in Gilroy During California Restaurant Month
Since January is California Restaurant Month, we challenged everyone on our staff to try at least one restaurant in Gilroy they’d never visited before. Even we were surprised to discover how much variety Gilroy now has to offer—and we had a great time noshing our way through the town’s many delicious culinary destinations!
First off, we wanted to try some of the newest restaurants that recently opened here in town. Buffalo Wild Wings was first on the list. As soon as we walked in, we were amazed to see that everywhere we looked, there was a TV! We sampled wings in a variety of seasonings and sauces, ranging from sweet and mild to super-duper spicy.
We also enjoyed great food at the new VIX Seafood and Sushi—an unusual but delicious fusion of Mexican and Japanese cuisine. The menu is amazing and the waitress there was also very pleasant. First Street Kitchen & Cocktails is another new restaurant that had excellent service and a great atmosphere.
We’re pretty busy at the Gilroy Welcome Center, so we love the fact that at Café Thyme we can order our food to go. It’s very convenient—and the food is yummy. They offer unique items like beet salad, lamb sliders, and lobster ravioli. Everything is made with fresh and local ingredients, and they even have vegan options.
Some of our staff had never tried some of the “classics” here in Gilroy, so we also made a pilgrimage to Café 152 Burger Co. The freshly made French fries with homemade ketchup were our favorite! We also went to Victoria’s Mexican Restaurant, a longtime local favorite. Emma’s Salad was a big hit with one of the GWC staff. We were lucky enough to go on a Thursday, so we enjoyed Karaoke night along with the delicious, authentic Mexican food.
We had a great time celebrating California Restaurant Month here in Gilroy and encourage you to do the same! Stop by the Gilroy Welcome Center to pick up a handy Restaurant Map—and we’ll be happy to talk food with you!
